Bio
Taylor Clay is sensitive to senses. She finds profound richness in subtleties and the edges of our perception. She finds that she can often “see” better when her eyes are closed, turning off that most dominant sense and relaxing into a place of heightened awareness. Her synesthesia, a mixing of senses, which she experiences most strongly with words and tastes, allows her to feel connections between apparently unrelated objects/concepts.
She paints an object by how it feels and smells, colors connected to her childhood mixing with the ever unfolding present and future. Figures often resemble shadows, mirrors or sideways glances. Her art is characterized by its movement, organic shapes seem to emerge and converge, weaving together in real time for the observer.
Her exhibits are often multi-sensory, aiming to have the viewer experience the artwork as a fluid moment instead of a stationary object. She believes that the greatest gift is presence; pure attention. This is where magic lives, where true connections are formed and where we can all shift towards love.
